Scientific Swedish MassageSCIENTIFIC SWEDISH MASSAGE – Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis. It has also been shown to be helpful in individuals with poor circulation.
Deep Scientific Swedish MassageDEEP SCIENTIFIC SWEDISH MASSAGE – This therapy is a more advanced and stronger version of the Swedish Massage, getting deeper into muscles than the standard version.
SportsSports – Sports massage is designed to address those specific concerns and may differ according to the sport the athlete plays. Sports massage can be aimed to help heal strained muscles and allow healthy ones to reach peak performance and maintain it while minimizing the risk of injury.

Esalen MassageEsalen Massage – Esalen works with long, fluid, finished strokes where the hands never break contact with the body. Esalen works with gentle rocking of the body, passive joint exercises and deep structural work on the muscles and joints, together with an energetic balancing of the body.
Nurturing MassageNurturing Massage – Based on the natural energy flows of the body, Nurturing Massage is ideal for releasing tension and reducing stress. This would indicate that the therapist utilizing their “Mother” energy and incorporating it into the massage.
Polarity (Energy) MassagePolarity (Energy) Massage – Polarity is a four-part approach to balancing the energetic patterns of the body. Based on principles developed by Randolph Stone, an osteopath, naturopath and chiropractor, PT combines bodywork, nutrition, and stretching postures to free energy blockages and establish a natural energy flow for self-healing.

Advanced Deep TissueAdvanced Deep Tissue – Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This massage focuses on the muscles located below the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to become sore or even bruised over the next few days following the massage.
CraniosacralCraniosacral Massage – Craniosacral therapists work the spine and head to ease the restrictions of nerve passages, reduce pain, and realign bones. According to MassageTherapy101.com:
The theory behind craniosacral therapy is that when blockages occur in spinal fluid, an unharmonious balance in the body can occur, resulting in muscle and joint strain, emotional disturbances, and the improper operation of the body’s organs and central nervous system. |
Myofascial ReleaseMyofacial Release – Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and centeredness. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions, or by skin rolling.
ReikiReiki Massage – Reiki Massage energy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, rids one of energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body. Although there are a few positions in which the therapist is in contact with the patient (such as cradling the head), most Reiki Massage treatments do not involve actual touching. The therapist holds their hands a few inches or farther away from the patient’s body and manipulates the energy field from there.
ReflexologyReflexology- Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet that relate to every organ, gland, and system of the body.
ShiatsuShiatsu – Shiatsu (“shi” meaning finger and “atsu” meaning pressure.) is an eastern born therapy that uses pressure applied with thumbs, fingers and palms to the same energy meridians as acupressure and incorporates stretching. It also uses techniques such as rolling, brushing, vibrating, and grasping.
Thai MassageThai Massage – Thai massage originated in India and is based on ayurveda and yoga. The technique combines massage with yoga-like positions during the course of the massage; the northern style emphasizes stretching while the southern style emphasizes acupressure.
Pre/Post Natal MassagePre/Post Natal Massage – Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Trained prenatal or pregnancy massage therapists are aware of pressure points on the ankles and wrists that can gently stimulate pelvic muscles, including the uterus. Our certified prenatal massage therapists are trained to avoid very specific and intentional pressure to these areas during pregnancy. Any woman who has experienced pre-term contractions or consistent Braxton-Hicks contractions should alert her therapist to that fact so that pressure points can be avoided completely.

Deep Tissue Deep Tissue - Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.
Lymphatic Massage Lymphatic Massage - Lymphatic massage or lymph drainage massage is a technique used to help increase lymph flow. Increased lymph flow removes harmful substances from the tissues and increases immune function. The lymphatic system has no central pump and depends on muscle contraction through deep breathing, exercise and manual manipulation to move fluid. Lymphatic massage utilizes a very light pressure combined with soft pumping movements in the direction of the lymph nodes. Immune system function can be significantly increased, improving metabolism and helping the body to eliminate waste and toxins.
Trigger Point Trigger Point - Trigger points are responsible for a variety of pain, usually throbbing and dull aches. These include headaches, neck and jaw pain, lower back pain and joint pain. Trigger points may indicate carpal tunnel syndrome. Earaches, dizziness, nausea, heartburn, colic in babies and sinus pain or congestion can all be the result of trigger points Pressure on the correct trigger point will relieve the pain and hasten the healing of the body. The method utilized by the practitioner is similar to Asian Acupressure. Deep sustained finger pressure is applied to the trigger points to release them. As with Swedish Massage, Trigger Point
has also spawned variations and adaptations. |
